Social Media Is Not Your Enemy

All anyone cares about these days are those stupids phones and that toxic social media! Social Media is the reason why this generation is going to fail! People need to learn how to make real friends instead of constantly being on their phones all the time!

Don’t you love hearing this? Now I’ll be the first to admit that social media is not perfect, but there are benefits of social media and you have to understand what they are if you want to be successful in anything. Social media is no longer a fun hobby, but a basic necessity.

You are a brand

With social media, everything you do or say is out for the world to see. This can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you present yourself. No one is saying to not be yourself, but don’t be stupid. You only get one shot at a first impression (I'm not throwing away MY SHOT). So be authentic and mindful of what you post, share, and like on social media. It says a lot about who you are and what you want to attract. Social media makes it easier to remember all the good and bad a person has done, so slayyy it Queen!

Find your niche

With social media, you can find people with all sorts of likes, hobbies, and interests. From people doing make-up tutorials to kids reviewing their favorite toys of 2018. Social media has now made it easier for us to connect and enjoy things with a click of a button. I for one love watching breakdown videos of upcoming superhero movies which fulfills my little nerd heart. Through this, I connected with people who share the same interests as me and learned even more from them. Social media makes it easier to find people with similar interests and build a larger and stronger network. You can create a network of opportunities, all thanks to a few retweets and shares.

The world feels smaller, goals feel bigger

As I said before, social media is not perfect. It’s far from it. However, there is no denying all the good that has come from it. Such as the ice bucket challenge which raised over $115 million dollars towards ALS research or Little Miss Flint, a girl from Michigan who is raising money to solve the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. Because of various voting registration campaigns on social media, there was a 188% increase in young voters in the 2018 mid-term elections. Social media can spark a fire in people to do more and be better. We feel like we can achieve bigger together. People like and share stories from all over the world and realize that they are not alone. The world feels smaller. Goals feel more tangible. So lets all embrace it!
