People singing on their Balconies in Italy.

Italy has one of the most strict lockdowns with residents currently not able to leave their homes unless they have proper documentation to do so. During isolation, people in certain apartment complexes got together to sing popular songs and play instruments together on their balconies. Honestly, this looks better than Coachella.

Shea Serrano gives out money on Twitter

New York Times best selling author and writer for The Ringer, Shea Serrano, noticed how many people were losing their jobs or getting their hours cut back due to the coronavirus pandemic. He started a thread asking people to share their story and venmo/cashapp account so he can help pay their bills. This started a chain of other people pitching in to help those in need as well. A true act of humanity all starting from a tweet.

Sports Players Donate to Support Employees

All major sports leagues have canceled their games resulting in millions of employees who work during this busy season to be unemployed. Players from the NBA like, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Zion Williamson and Blake Griffin are donating thousands of dollars to support the staff and employees. Our very own Texans, JJ Watt and his wife Kealia Ohai Watt, a soccer player for the Chicago Red Stars, have pledged to donate $350,000 to the Houston Food Bank.

The owner of Layal Cafe in Houston is giving out free meals to anyone from 12pm to 8pm at his restaurant located on Richmond Ave. He made a post on all his social media profiles which have now received numerous likes, shares, and comments of love and appreciation from the community. Nobody brings people together like H-town!

These are just some of the most remarkable and amazing stories we heard. There are also stories of famous billionaires donating billions of dollars to help fund research to find a cure for the virus. Millionaires are also spending money to buy large quantities of test kits and masks for hospitals. Even smaller contributions from younger people who are going out of their way to shop groceries for senior citizens who are at risk of going to public places.

Sometimes hard times like these show us how powerful we can be when we care and work together. What are some of your favorite local stories? Share them in the comments below.
